The Agora Initiative promotes public discourse around thorny issues that polarize today’s world. To the ancient Greeks, agoras are open spaces of assembly, the word taken from the root meaning “to gather.” The Agora Initiative furthers this mission by collecting public opinion online and offline on thought-provoking questions such as “What is a woman?” or “Why should we be good?” Moreover, it continues agoras’ “open” and “gathering” features by maintaining anonymity and critically analyzing responses. In doing it, it hopes to build a better understanding of the issue, or, at any rate, of the issue’s complexity.
